Overview

The Investigative Sciences team within Early Development at Alnylam is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Associate Director / Director to lead interdisciplinary mechanistic efforts related to nonclinical safety assessment of oligonucleotide therapeutics and their targets. The role requires a track record in successfully addressing cellular/biochemical mechanisms of drug-related toxicities. A solid foundation in immunology is preferred. The candidate will engage in cross-functional efforts to derisk novel oligonucleotide constructs conjugated to a variety of ligands, including antibodies, peptides, and small molecules, will be responsible for addressing mechanisms of toxicities across tissues, and will lead early target safety assessment across the portfolio.

This position is onsite and will be located in Cambridge, MA.

Key Responsibilities

* Drive strategy and execution of novel oligonucleotide conjugate derisking efforts, including immunotoxicity and immunogenicity
* Drive highly innovative cellular/biochemical toxicology research into mechanisms of oligonucleotide toxicities across tissues
* Lead early target safety assessment strategy and execution across the portfolio
* Establish productive cross-functional collaborations with Regulatory Toxicology, Pathology, DMPK, Bioanalysis, and Research groups
* Effectively communicate with management and project teams
* Supervise and develop a team of scientists

Qualifications

* Ph.D. in Immunology and/or Cellular Toxicology or a related field, with 10+ years of experience in industry or academia; DABT certification is a plus
* Experience in nonclinical safety assessment of antibodies and/or peptides
* Track record in successfully addressing cellular/biochemical mechanisms of drug-related toxicities
* Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent organization, team management, and communication skills are required
* Familiarity with oligonucleotides is preferred
