What is the opportunity?

We are seeking an experienced Senior eDiscovery lawyer to join the RBC's Law Group. The successful candidate will serve as a subject matter expert on eDiscovery, including structured and unstructured data, legal hold processes, and legal review workflows. You will collaborate with internal legal teams, cybersecurity, information governance, technology, and external counsel to ensure defensible, scalable, and cost-effective discovery practices that meet global regulatory and litigation requirements.

What will you do?

  • Serve as the lead legal advisor on eDiscovery-related matters across global litigation, regulatory inquiries, and internal investigations.

  • Provide legal guidance on collection, preservation, processing, review, and production of electronically stored information (ESI).

  • Oversee legal hold processes, ensuring accuracy, defensibility, and adherence to regulatory requirements.

  • Design and manage a centralized review program, including protocols for privilege, QC and TAR.

  • Collaborate with internal eDiscovery Operations and vendors on legal technology tools and workflows.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • LLB or JD from an accredited law school and active license in good standing

  • Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, with significant focus on eDiscovery

  • Strong communication, collaboration and project management skills

  • Experience managing eDiscovery with an understanding of the technical side of ESI and eDiscovery tools.

Nice-to-have

  • ACEDS, CIPP or other relevant certifications

  • Familiarity with data housed in systems and messaging archives

  • Experience working for financial services or other regulated industries

  • Understanding of bank regulations and requirements

The expected salary range for this particular position is $150,000-$225,000 depending on your experience, skills, and registration status, market conditions and business needs.

You have the potential to earn more through RBC's discretionary variable compensation program which gives you an opportunity to increase your total compensation, provided the business meets its performance targets and you meet your individual goals.
