Job Description

What is the opportunity?

This position is responsible for leading the US WM Operations' Operations Strategy & Transformation function which includes the US WM Operations technology strategy, initiative prioritization & management, technology funding & financial reporting, and strategic transformation initiatives, inclusive of all change management related project activities i.e. governance and reporting etc. In addition, this role is responsible for executing initiatives that support both the US Wealth Management business and Global Wealth Management Operations strategies. The US WM Operations' Operations Strategy & Transformation Managing Director will report to the Head of US Wealth Management Operations.

In addition, this position is responsible for ensuring execution of the project portfolio related to timeline and financial expectation as well as communicating progress, status and on time delivery with impactful executive presentations. The incumbent must have a proven track record of implementing large scale change and capabilities via cross functional groups which include Operations, Technology, Product, Field, Compliance leveraging best in class solutions to deliver expected benefits while instilling sound industry best practice project delivery structures and oversight.

To be successful in this position, the incumbent will require a thorough understanding of WM Broker Dealer Operations industry best practices, RBC US Wealth Management's strategic priorities, competitive advantages, and opportunities to ensure alignment of projects with the strategic plans and priorities for US WM Operations. This position will be required to resource, fund and drive multiple UHNW foundational capabilities including system implementations, process changes, and product feature and function creation to enable the organization's strategic UHNW strategy. This position interacts extensively with various business lines as well as the functional units within the firm and requires robust communication while collaborating successfully with internal and external stakeholders. The individual in this position is expected to be a knowledgeable senior level liaison for both Operations and RBC Wealth Management. Incumbent must understand regulatory and organizational risks associated with functional process activities. This position is responsible for adherence to policies, processes, procedures, standards, and appropriate regulations related to the Wealth Management aspects of the RBC Capital Markets LLC Broker Dealer.

What will you do?

Management and Oversight

  • Lead, manage and support Operation's change management teams to ensure overall execution on project delivery as per timeframes and delivering associated benefits.
  • Partner with US WM Operations Senior Leadership to develop and maintain a 3-5 year roadmap designed to align and support Operations and Business key strategic priorities.
  • Develop and deliver impactful presentations concisely focused on providing key information and organizational updates, highlighting risks and proposing solutions to resolve them, while driving required action items for executive leadership.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a comprehensive change management strategy transformation consisting of best practices and a competitive operating model which will be used to support the successful implementation of large strategic Operations and business sponsored initiatives such as the US Wealth Management UHNW strategy.
  • Oversee and manage US WM Operations' CTB/RTB technology initiative intake, prioritization, funding, and implementation process. Prioritize automation requests by focusing on change initiatives which articulate and deliver business value, business case results and desired user experience while ensuring alignment to Operations and Business strategies.
  • Drive priorities focused on enabling increased capacity, streamlined processing, alignment with regulatory requirements, business strategic priorities within required timeframes.
  • Manage, monitor, and report post implementation effectiveness of new technology, functional support, processes, and/or procedures expected to increase timeliness, reduce expenses, and/or enrich service.

Technology Financial Budgets, Forecasting & Reporting

  • Manage US WM Operations and Operations' IT Capability budget, financial forecasts, staffing models and metric tracking.
  • Lead the development, recommendation, and execution of business plans for US WM Operations' technology strategy.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university or equivalent OR High school diploma or equivalent AND 10+ years of securities, banking, technology, and/or job specific industry experience
  • Securities license 7 or 99, SER 27 a plus
  • 10+ years prior securities, banking, technology industry and/or job specific related experience
  • 10+ years demonstrated and sound managerial experience leading and managing a team.
  • 10+ years project management, vendor management, analysis, and/or risk control experience
  • Proven track record on implementing multiple major change initiatives

Nice-to-have

  • Direct experience with FINRA, SEC, FED, OCC and/or IRS regulatory matters and audits
  • Ability to work effectively in situations involving rapid change, shifting priorities, and/or simultaneous demands.
  • Advanced knowledge related to WM products, business lines, business strategy, and technology.
  • Advanced problem identification, analytical and resolution skills required to support escalated issue resolution and/or oversight requirements associated with exception-based complex processes.
  • Background in complex project implementation from requirements definition to benefits realization.
  • Direct leadership experience with broker dealer operation's administrative support services (management & financial reporting, budgets, capacity plans, strategy, technology & business initiative support, AI/RPA/EUDA initiatives & governance, and service solutions)

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $130,000 - $210,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate's experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs. This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
